2 weeks

Mike went to the Orthopedic doctor this morning and we learned that he has a small tear in his gluteus minimus muscle. It is a small but very important muscle in your hip area...not the butt area like everyone has liked to joke Mike about. It evidently takes quite a while to heal if torn :(

Mike will be on crutches and at home for the next 2 WEEKS and then they will evaluate further! Good news...Mike will be home with the girls and I for the Christmas break. Bad news...Mike will be home with the girls and I for Christmas break...just kidding :0) Actually the only thing I'm worried about is that we know nothing about workman's comp so hopefully we'll get some answers on wages, etc. in the next couple of days.

Van Update:
Did not hear from the bank today, will call tomorrow. I SO hope they can do what we need so we can move on from this and get a van!

Adoption Update:
Have not heard from the adoption worker to go over the packet she sent. I'm going to start gathering the things I need to photocopy and have those ready to send in as soon as I talk with her.

Mommy Update:
I'm SICK! My throat, ears, sinuses, head, neck, chest all are in bad shape! I want to just lay down and sleep for about 6 days straight but there is cleaning, cooking, bathing, laundry, homework, taking care of a poor out-of-commission hubby that someone must do. So for now I will just push through :-)

OH GOOD GRIEF!! What else???? This has been a crazy, hectic, weird, exhausting week and Mike added to it by calling this afternoon to let me know he was at the HOSPITAL!!! Seems he thought it might be fun to hurt himself getting out of a dump truck at work.

After many hours at the ER it was determined that he must have done something to a muscle or tendon in his hip area. He got a lesson on how to use crutches, told to ice the area, given some pain pills and told that he would probably be home the rest of the week.

UGH!

A time to Celebrate!!!!!

Lexy FINALLY was able to open her eye today! A mere 6 days after surgery, when they told us she would be "all better" within a couple of days. By this afternoon she was able to take the cold cloth off of her eye and wear sunglasses when we went out. She says it feels better except that it hurts to look to the left with her left eye and it itches. Her eye still looks pretty red and inflamed but hopefully in the next couple of days that will go away...just in time for her 5th birthday party on Saturday!

AND she said tonight that she wants to go to preschool tomorrow...I couldn't believe when those words came out of Lexy's mouth. She always complains of the work at school, she must really miss her friends! I told her that she could decide in the morning as her eye always seems worse in the morning.

More boredom, creativity and stress

I think Brooke was probably glad to be back at school today. I think the past weekend was the most boring we've had in a LONG time! Brooke made another purse yesterday out of boredom (above), for her little sissy.

Lexy is still having trouble with her eye. She isn't able to open it so the Dr. had us force it open last night, it is red all over and is turning inward (I read that this sometimes happens and as it heals it will go to normal). The Dr. doesn't think that it's getting infected. The Dr. did say that the surgery he did on her was pretty intensive and that she may just be taking longer to heal. This is causing Lexy much boredom and me MUCH stress!!! She isn't able to go to school looking the way she does (and not using her eye) and her birthday party is set for this Saturday!

Please pray for Lexy's healing and my sanity!!

Everyone is BORED around here...

Lexy slept most of yesterday away, when she was awake she was saying her eye hurt (and asking for a cold cloth) or crying because she was so dizzy that she couldn't sit up or eat. Today she is BORED. She is still unable to open her eye because of the pain and is a little bit dizzy. She is able to eat today though. Since she can't open her eyes (she says b/c she can't open the one that had surgery she can't open the other as they open together!) she really can't play or watch TV so besides playing blind person there's not much for her to do.

Yesterday while bored out of her mind Brooke made this...

Yep that is an original BMR Fashions creation made of duct tape. She was in her bedroom for a couple of hours and came out with it, she is SO creative!

One of Brooke's friends came over last night to keep her busy (and out of our hair) but as soon as her friend walked out the door this morning she said "I'm bored".

I think I may go crazy today with all the "I'm bored", "I need...", whine, "I'm bored", "Get me...", cry, "I'm bored", complain, "Can't we...", "There's nothing to do"... someone please save me!!!!

The FUN of the day

Here's some pics of Lexy's day of surgery. Not sure you'll be able to read the small print so one of the cute things Lexy did was...when waking up she was very concerned about her sock being off (they had a monitor on her toe) and kept asking us to put her sock on. When the nurse finally took the monitor off and Brooke was able to put Lexy's sock on Lexy said "thank you Sissy, I love you" like Brooke had done something wonderful!

The good and bad news

Good News...

My BFF Robin's MRI and other test came back negative for MS, the symptoms she's been experiencing are because of a bulging disc in her neck. They will start physical therapy and if that's doesn't take care of it then she will have surgery...but NO MS!!!

Bad News...

I took Lexy for her yearly check up at her Opthamologist yesterday and her doctor found that she will have to have eye muscle surgery. When she got her glasses 2 years ago we started patching her eye because of the lazy eye, about six months later the patching had worked enough that we stopped patching. For some reason the muscle has gotten MUCH weaker than it was and now our options are to try patching again (which probably would only be a temporary fix again) or to have eye muscle surgery to hopefully fix the problem for good. We have choosen to go with the surgery but I have a stomachache just thinking of putting my baby thru that! It is an out-patient surgery but they'll still have to put her under (and that wasn't a good experience when she had her MRI 2 years ago!). The doctor's office will call today to set up the date...please say a prayer that everythng will go well.




Before going to Lexy's appointment yesterday, we stopped off at Toys R US for Brooke to buy Lexy's birthday present. The girls thought they would try on some "new wheels"!

And yes, those are the only "wheels" that they are allowed to have for many many many years...oh the anxiety over just thinking that those days are coming way to quickly for Brooke!

The weekend

Here's a *new* post for the junkies...yes I'm talking to you Dad!!! haha!

This weekend on Sat. the girls and I had "mommy and me" time as Mike was on call and stayed home working on some of Brooke's Christmas presents for her room. The girls and I went shopping at a few stores, walked around the mall and then headed to Chuck E. Cheeses for dinner and fun. We all had a fabulous time but we were all wore out by the time we got home from all the walking, fun and jostling from the crowds! We sat down and watched a Christmas movie as a family after getting home.

Lexy talked me into a Happy Birthday balloon yesterday too...one of those poor parenting moments when I bought it just to apease her so we could get out of the store :-) She decided to dress it in her pajama shirt (and we ALL thought this was hilarious, must have been the tiredness)...

Sunday was spent cleaning the house, putting some of the presents under the tree (see Brooke I DO listen to you), playing and having the girls help me cook dinner (Brooke's favorite, popcorn chicken kabobs) and make dessert (Lexy helped make peanut butter cup blizzards!).

Poor Lexy had a rough evening tonight when she fell off of her chair she was sitting in and hit her upper lip and then her forehead on the TV cabinet. Then somehow the icepack that she was using for her boo boos busted open all over her new favorite jammies so she had to change...poor baby!

Hmm, I wonder if the girls will have school in the morning. We have ice and some snow AND the wind chills (on the news just now) for tomorrow are suppose to be -10 to -20 BBBRRRR!!! They probably will have school just because that will make me have to get out and drive them to school and I HATE to drive in this kind of weather! The girls have five more days of school (if they go tomorrow) until the beginning of Christmas (I mean Winter) break. Lexy's party is on Friday morning. Brooke is having a choir concert on Wed. night and then her cheer squad is having a little Christmas party/gift exchange sometime this week.
