Our little princess...

The other day Lexy received a bag of hand me down clothes. In that bag was a very frilly girly dress that I figured could be used for playing dress up since Lexy is against all things girly.

To my surprise, this is what Lexy chose to wear to preschool today...

She didn't even complain about having to put on tights or wearing dress shoes! She couldn't wait to show off her pretty dress (and her new glasses) to her friends.

Last week while playing, Lexy lost one of the lens out of her glasses and we couldn't find it anywhere so we had to order a new pair. They came in yesterday...

Lexy chose her glasses all by herself. They have plastic frames which we have never done (but Lexy likes them better because they can be pushed further up on her nose). They are purple on the top and fade down to clear. Doesn't she look SO cute (minus the frowny face)???!!!!!

A prayer

Prayers for Stellan

The little guy above is Stellan, a five month old little guy that is in need of our thoughts and prayers. You can go to his mom's blog at http://www.mycharmingkids.net/ to read more about him but the short version is that Stellan is in the hospital right now fighting to bring his heartbeat back to normal. His heart is beating way to fast for his little body and the doctors are having a hard time figuring out what will fix this.

You can also visit Stellan's Name Gallary to see the pictures of Stellan's name that people are sending to his mama to let her know we are thinking of Stellan and their family. After dinner tonight I told the girls and Mike about Stellan and the name pictures and Brooke, Lexy & Kenzie made pictures with spaghetti noodles to e-mail to Stellan...

Please join us in sending prayers to Stellan and his family!

Focus Friday

Focus Friday

Ellen over at Thrifty & Chic Mom has this great weekly challenge. Focus Friday is where you list a couple of small and/or large projects that you want to focus on for the week and then the next week you tell how you did at getting those projects done.

Last weeks goals were...(I missed last week so these are 2 wks ago)

1.) Enjoy our family time during spring break! We had a fabulous spring break, look at my past posts to read about our family outings!

2.) Do a little work on the master bedroom. Over the past two weeks I got this DONE!!!! With the exception of the top of hubby's dresser, I'll keep *hinting* for him to get this done. Here's some after pictures...
I made the curtains from some clearance fabric and a pillowcase.

I used more of the fabric and another pillowcase for my vanity cover.

I used a flat sheet for the closet cover. On the dresser I got a reed diffuser, so nice for my new room to smell like "hawaiian mist".

This wall art has a wedding and a current photo of Mike & I and a marriage poem in the middle. The baby bed below is just waiting for a new little foster baby to lay it's sweet head.

This weeks goals...

1.) Go through the basement to find a few things to put in my friends garage sale next weekend.
2.) Bake something for the cheer bake sale.
3.) Straighten 2 areas in the basement.

Make Something Monday-Sock Monkey blanket

Make Something Monday

Make Something Monday is a new meme I found over at Jolly Mom. We are to post about something that we have made, be it a recipe or a project.

This week I want to show off the blanket that I made for Lexy's 5th b-day this month. Lexy LOVES sock monkeys and while browsing on e-bay one day she saw me looking at some sock monkey fabric and told me that she wanted a sock monkey blanket for her birthday. I'm not great at sewing but I can sew a straight line so I thought this was a doable gift. I bought the fabric Lexy liked and then found a very soft minky dot fabric for the back. Here's how it turned out...

Lexy LOVES this blanket and has me cover her up with it every night before I hand her lovey, sock monkey and froggie!

Our Saturday

Today Lexy asked several times "where are we going today?"...poor thing her mind is now set on spring break fun time! She even had a hard time going to sleep tonight, I think it was from lack of being totally worn out and exhausted at the end of the day, so I laid down with her for some cuddles before she went to sleep.

I spent today working on spring cleaning our master bedroom. It's not quite done yet but I made a huge dent in the decluttering, organizing, cleaning, beautifying in there! I'll post pictures later this week.

Mike spent the day napping, fixing lunch and getting dinner, and helping me with the bedroom (I let him have the nasty task of taking all the "stuff" that belongs elsewhere to their homes.

Brooke & Kenzie spent today working on planning their birthday parties (both in May). They made signs and lists and giggled and talked all day. At the end of the day Brooke came out to show us a new duct tape purse that she made...

She said she wanted to make a purse that looks like a skirt, I think she did great! The handles are clear plastic that I bought a few years back to use on Brooke's "purse" b-day cake that I made.

Thank you Maamaw & Grandpa Tom for coming by this morning to bring Brooke some new duct tape and Lexy some dinosaurs and mats!

Spring Break Family Fun - Day 5

On our final day of spring break family fun we decided to do a little shopping at Target and then go to Zonkers. Zonkers has arcade games and rides for the kids.

After spending a few hours at Zonkers we headed home, picking up frozen pizzas, ice cream fixin's and Kenzie. We sat in front of the TV and pigged out on the pizza and then these...

We are all in need of some relaxation time after our busy week so I think that's what we'll do for the weekend!

Spring Break Family Fun - Day 4

I've now had two people comment to me that I haven't wrote about yesterdays spring break family fun so I better get to it. I'm so glad that you're reading and waiting for my posts!!

Yesterday started out with Lexy in a bad mood saying that she was too tired to go anywhere but Daddy saved the day by suggesting that we spend the night last night in a hotel (Brooke & Lexy's favorite thing to do!). So we packed our overnight bags (both girls are getting REALLY good at doing this without any help) and headed up. We were too early to get our room so we headed over to Kaliedoscope where there is a free craft time (provided by Hallmark). We stayed there for about an hour making crafts as a family.

Then we headed to Crown Center (a mall). Most of the shops are WAY too expensive for casual shopping but we did get some yummy chocolate goodies in one store and each of the girls got a small gift from the toy store that was having a sale. The mall was also having a Wizard of Oz exhibit for kids, note to self...let Lexy watch Wizard of Oz. Although Lexy really enjoyed the exhibit I think she would have even more if she would have seen the movie before.

For dinner we ate at Fritz's, a great railroad themed restaurant that gives you gorgeous hats to wear, you call in your order over the phone and then a train rides around the top of the wall to bring your food to you...Lexy absolutely loved this place!!

We then went over to our hotel for the night. We spent the evening swimming, snacking and watching TV. The hotel was very nice but their "indoor/outdoor pool" left a lot to be desired!

Spring Break Family Fun - Day 3

Wow all this family fun is wearing me out but the kids are loving it! Yesterday we spent the morning at home having pillow/stuffed animal fights and relaxing. In the afternoon we went shopping for a little bit and then met Robin and her family at Power Play. We had never been there but had coupons (always a good thing :-) so we went. IT WAS GREAT!!! We started off eating at their pizza, pasta, taco, dessert bar, it was really good...the kids loved that one of the drink choices was an icee! Then for the kids' playing pleasure, there was a Kids Zone (for the littler kids but Brooke & Kenzie loved it too) that had a moonwalk, climbing tubes, little cars to ride in. Then there was a huge arcade and some rides like the tilt-a-whirl, etc. They also had lazer tag and miniture golf.

We spent 4 1/2 hours at Power Play and still didn't do everything the kids wanted to do so we promised them that we would go back to play miniture golf and play some more!
